The administrative committees at St. Matthew's keep the church, its committees, and all of the stuff in the background humming along. They don't just sound fun... sometimes there is even food at the meetings!
The Communications Committee produces “The Link”, which is available in the Narthex, and in electronic form on the website. Additionally, the committee publishes Chuck's devotionals on a daily basis via Facebook and the website. The committee posts print and audio copies of the weekly sermons on the parish website. Enjoying this beautiful website? The Communications committee does that too!
Buildings and Grounds
If you think the website is beautiful, wait until you see the buildings and grounds of St. Matthew's! It is the job of the Buildings and Grounds committee to maintain and upgrade our facilities to enhance our worship, provide fellowship opportunities, and create a safe space to launch our missions to the outside. Here's just a few things we have done recently:
- Brand new bathrooms off of the parish hall and St. Matt's place! These accessible bathrooms will add enough space for St. Matthew's to host CARITAS and provide a more hospitable worship and fellowship experience for parishioners who appreciate a closer, more accessible restroom.
- Restoration of the lower parking lot, with new stone (paid for by St. Matthew’s), new railroad ties around the perimeter, and a “Parking” sign.
- Refurbishment of the Library: Existing tables for the Library were professionally refinished, and new carpets for the Library were installed. Other items, such as furniture, curtains, and a wide-screen TV, are being priced and will be submitted to the Vestry for approval.
Have you filled out your pledge form yet?? Just kidding - but you'll be hearing from us in the fall! The Stewardship committee is responsible for organizing our annual revenue forecasting process for the upcoming year. It's a tough job, but we couldn't do anything without them!
This committee is responsible for one of the most-used and most-loved spaces in St. Matthew's. Our volunteers ensure that the space has interesting, well-organized material for parishioners to borrow and for our pre-school children to enjoy. They also maintain the "read and share" box on the table outside the library - check us out on your next trip to church!
The Technology group works hard to keep our technology working harder - from the new website, to the church technology hardware, we're routing routers and updating code. Join the most l33t committee at St. Matt's!
The Finance Committee is responsible, among other things, for reviewing and evaluating requests for financing from the various committees and groups of the church, and passing those requests and its recommendations on to the Vestry. Along with its monthly meetings, the committee has been primarily focused on the review and approval of Building and Grounds Committee projects and dealing with the steps necessary for the design and construction of new bathrooms in the parish hall.
We need your talents! Consider joining one of our committees and making a difference for your community today - just fill out this form if you're interested!
Why did you join the communications committee?Honestly, I joined just because they needed help - I thought I'd be helping others - but I was the one who benefited the most. Working for our community made me feel like a part of it more than ever!
